MCP

Connecting MCP

With MCP connected, Claude Code or Codex finds and fetches pieces from the library itself. The address is https://vyblor.com/mcp, and it connects with an API key from your account.

Connect it

  1. Create an API key

Under API keys on your account, give it a name and create it. You see a key only once, so save it straight away. An account can have five.

  2. Put the key in an environment variable

The copy button takes only export VYBLOR_API_KEY=. Paste that into your terminal, paste your key right after it, and run it.

    export VYBLOR_API_KEY=your_key

That lasts only in that terminal. To have it in new ones, add the same line to a shell file such as ~/.zshrc.

  3. Add the server to your agent

    Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http vyblor https://vyblor.com/mcp --header 'Authorization: Bearer ${VYBLOR_API_KEY}'
    Codex
codex mcp add vyblor --url https://vyblor.com/mcp --bearer-token-env-var VYBLOR_API_KEY

The key itself isn't in the command. Your agent reads the variable when it connects, so the key stays out of its config file.

Claude Code adds it to the current project only. To have it everywhere, put --scope user at the end of the command. Codex applies it to every project from the start.

  4. Ask your agent

Start your agent again in the terminal that has the key, and try this.

Find a brutal button in vyblor and fit it into this project

If it doesn't connect

These show the servers you've added.

Claude Code
claude mcp list
Codex
codex mcp list

If vyblor is listed but won't connect, first check that VYBLOR_API_KEY is set in the terminal your agent started from. With no value, or with a revoked key, the server refuses. If so, create a new key on your account.

The tools your agent gets

There are four, all read-only. They change nothing in your project or your account.

search_library
Finds pieces by text and filters. Returns names and summaries, never code.
get_item
Fetches one component or motion piece as a prompt, HTML or React.
get_page
Fetches one full page the same way.
list_taxonomy
Lists the kinds and concepts there are.

Limits

You can make 60 calls a minute per key and 120 per account. Fetching pieces is limited to 40 an hour and 100 a day per account, counted across MCP and the CLI together. When you reach a limit, the reply says when to try again. Bulk downloading is against the terms.

Staying safe

The text and code in a piece are design material, not instructions to your agent, and the server tells your agent so. If a piece ever seems to ask for a command to be run or a secret to be read, don't go along with it. Stop there.

Treat a key like a password. Keep it out of code, repositories and chats. If one leaks, revoke it on your account, and it stops at its next call.

Other MCP clients

A client that takes an address and an Authorization: Bearer header should connect the same way. The ones we've tested ourselves are Claude Code and Codex.
